CHRISTMAS 2015 | BLOGMAS #10
And Christmas is over once again. I hope you all had a wonderful time however and whenever you celebrated Christmas, and if you didn't celebrate it I hope you had a great time anyway! I spent my Christmas with my mum and my brother, we went to the graveyard, ate good food and opened presents, just like every year.
I was going to write a "what I got for Christmas" blog post but I couldn't get any good pictures because of the lighting, so I gave up. But when I woke up this morning and it wasn't too dark (compared to yesterday), I decided to take some quick, bad quality pictures with my iPad to show you some of the things anyway. This is where everyone says they're not trying to brag in any way, type or form, but I think we all know by now that that is obviously not the case.
I don't think I need to say much about any of this. I got a ton of candy, which is going to take me two years to eat. In the third picture there's a candle holder in the form of an owl, a lip balm in the form of an owl, some products for my face, scented candles and a shower gel. Apart from all this I also got an owl blanket, a 2016 calendar, some makeup and things for when I move out, mostly dishware. I got so much stuff and I'm actually surprised by how much I got and I'm so grateful for it all.

CHRISTMAS TAG | BLOGMAS #7
1. When do you start getting excited about Christmas?
It's different every year! Some years I don't get excited at all, some years it starts already during summer. But usually in november.
2. Do you still have advent calendars?
I order the calendar from a kid's tv-programme every year. I might or might not open every door in January, but I always need to have it. I hardly anymore buy any chocolate ones, but this year I actually have a chocolate one too!
3. What are your favourite Christmas Films?
I've actually not seen that many, but I love Home Alone, Elf and Joulupukki ja noitarumpu (Santa Claus and the Magic Drum) - it's one I grew up with and associate with Christmas more than anything else.
4. Do you have any funny Christmas memories?
The more I think about it, the more I realise I actually can't remember much at all. The only thing I remember, which isn't really funny, but one year, I was probably 5 years old, I wished for loads of stuffed toys but instead I ended up getting a big one. This isn't a funny one, but a few years ago I fell in the stairs and hurt my finger, and little did I know I would actually be going to the doctor a lot and have three (or four? I can't even remember) surgeries within a few years because of it. I still can't use my finger properly, and I never will.
5. Talk us through your typical Christmas Eve/Day?
Christmas Eve is the big day in Finland, but in my family we don't really do much actually. My mum and step dad leave pretty early to eat rice porridge. I stay in bed late, and by the time I've gotten ready it's usually time to start preparing dinner. So I help with that, then we eat, my mum cleans up a bit, we open presents, and eat dessert a few hours later. My mum and I usually eat a little again around like 10p.m. Christmas isn't really that different than a normal day to be honest.
6. What do you eat for Christmas Dinner?
We usually start with some fish and potatoes. I'm not a big fan of the traditional Finnish Christmas dinner, so for me the main food is just potato casserole and ham. This is my first year as a pescetarian though, so we'll see what I'll come up with!
7. Do you have any Christmas traditions?
We actually don't really have any.
8. Which are your favourite Christmas songs?
Some of my favourite songs and a link to my Christmas playlist can be found
here.
9. What is the best Christmas present you ever received?
I can't think of anything special. I'm always really grateful for everything I get, but especially for a new phone or computer, because those are the most expensive gifts I've gotten, and the thought of someone spending that much money on me scares me a little.
10.Real or fake christmas tree?
Real.

CHRISTMAS MUSIC | BLOGMAS #6
Music is, for me, one of the best and most important parts of Christmas. It's not Christmas without all the Christmas music. Honestly, what's better than every radio station and store playing Christmas music for weeks? There's so many different songs and so many different versions of the same song you can't even get sick of them. I've made a playlist on Spotify which you can see by clicking
here. Here's a few of my favourite songs.

MEATLESS CHRISTMAS | BLOGMAS #5
This is my first, mostly meatless Christmas, and to be completely honest I've been very stressed about it since I decided to leave out meat from my diet. I've never eaten anything but ham and potato casserole on Christmas, so what on earth am I supposed to eat this year? Of course I could try to survive on a bunch of potato casserole, but that wouldn't be very fun, healthy, filling or delicious after two days. Another alternative is substituting the ham with fish, which literally everyone has said to me, but for some reason they don't understand that that is the complete opposite of what I want to do. Yes, I still do eat fish, but I don’t want to substitute red meat with it, nor do I want to eat any more of it than necessary.
I've been looking on Pinterest, I've googled, watched YouTube videos, I've done everything to find some vegetarian recipes I could enjoy on Christmas. But nothing seems right. None of it screams Christmas to me. But I guess it's completely understandable, I've grown up with the same food on the table every year for 17 years. I'm used to these few things being Christmas food you only get to eat at the end of each year, for me, there hasn't been anything else that could be called Christmas food.

Nothing feels right, but that doesn’t mean you need meat on your plate on Christmas. I’ve found lots of different vegetarian recipes I would love to try. Actually, I’ve found so many I can’t decide what I want to actually make! I'm super excited to try out these recipes and to start a new "tradition". Who says you need to make the exact same foods every single year? Why not make different foods every year? That’s so much more exciting! Holidays can be hard when you don't have meat in your diet since that's usually when some kind of meat is a big part of the dinner table, but that doesn't mean there isn't anything for us non-meat eaters. Even if you are a meat eater, I dare you to eat less meat and more vegetables, and to try something new this year! Let's make our dinner tables filled with colourful veggies!
If you have any meatless recipes you think I would like or should try this Christmas, please share! Or even if you just have some advice or something regarding meatless Christmas foods, I would love to hear.

Men ingenting känns rätt, ingenting skriker jul.
